How does it work?

Transcranial DC stimulation uses a low-level direct current on the scalp to influence how neurons fire. Research shows that applying about 1 milliamp for around ten minutes can increase or decrease activity in specific brain regions, with effects that may last for more than an hour. Anodal placement generally increases activity, while cathodal placement reduces it.

Changes in beta and gamma activity have also been observed depending on the type of stimulation used. This makes tDCS relevant for applications involving mood, sensory processing and cognitive support.

The technique is applied using a saline-soaked cloth, sponge or cotton pad on the scalp over the targeted area, along with a second pad placed on the shoulder or face. The OASIS Pro can deliver direct current up to 2.35 milliamps.

Because incorrect placement or intensity can lead to unwanted side effects, tDCS sessions are available only to users who are trained and qualified in its use.

Older OASIS Pro units may require the yellow and blue pin cable. Check your device and existing cables before ordering to ensure the correct type is supplied.
